Three Successful Facebook Ads

I've created a few dozen Facebook ads for Schreiner’s Iris Gardens. I’ve tested different images and calls-to-action and this is what I’ve learned.

Collage ads drive more sales than images of a single product.

An image of a variety of products, like a collage, has been more successful than an image of a single product. Collage ads, like the one above, consistently get more comments, likes, and sales at lower costs than ads with only one product.

Knowing this, the majority of the new ads that I create will be collage ads.

Encouraging People to Take ACtion ON the ad itself

After discovering that collage photos were generating an overwhelming amount of likes, shares and comments, I wanted to take the ad engagement a step further and ask people to share photos of their favorite iris. Well, we asked and got nearly 1,000 comments & hundreds of photos of irises from customer’s gardens.

Not only does the act of customer’s sharing iris photos help with customer engagement and social proof, but it also created a catalog of Schreiner’s Irises. It allowed other people to ask and answer questions about Iris varietals and use the ad like a forum.

A/B TEST Images WITH & WITHOUT TEXT Overlay

I did a simple a/b test to see which ad generated more sales. One Facebook ad had “Summer Iris Sale” in bold, clear text, while the other ad had it in the above ad copy.

Within a few days, it was clear which ad had performed better. The ad with the clear Summer Iris Sale text generated 7X sales and a 32% lower cost per sale.
